Truckers looking down their own personal highway to the future are
faced with challenges that previous generations were spared. Tomorrow’s
long haul drivers are very likely to cross our southern borders as our
industry tries to make a seamless nonstop system that will link
destinations like Mexico City, Chicago and Montreal. Computer skills,
including GPS mastery will be vital to truckers. In fact, they are
major players in the game already. The next hurdle will involve
learning new languages. Without proficiency in English and Spanish, and
perhaps some French as well,what could have been a routine delivery can easily turn into a nightmare.

A small number of truck oriented writers have made names for themselves
but usually in combination with their photography. Occasionally a movie
about trucks makes the big screen, but not as rule based on a best
selling book. However, all that might be about to change.
