The only time the miracle actually worked was the Christmas before Mom and Dad moved to town after renting the same farm for more than 40 years. My wife, two kids and I drove out on Christmas Eve to spend that final Christmas on the farm. That evening, we all drove to town for a candlelight service at church, and on the way home my dad started talking about how Christmases were when he was a boy.
