One thing visitors at truck shows get to see that even other truckers
don’t always eyeball is the back of a tractor. Unless the driver is
running bobtail or has the fifth wheel set way back, it’s not easy to
fully appreciate the art and wry comments that often adorn the back
wall.

Remember that ketchup commercial with “Anticipation” as the background
music. NAST competitor Phil Knowlan of Coldwater, MI, heard that song
throughout the 2007 truck show season.

This year, NAST held a “family reunion,” inviting present and past
members to drop by at some point during the week leading up to and
including the truck show. Thanks to invitations and widespread
announcement in the trucking press, a number of folks either checked in
or made the trip to St. Ignace for the event.

a simpler way of life instead of adding on to keep up with the Joneses.
The teachers of yoga and Zen stress the power of simplicity—in Japanese
art, what isn’t shown is at least as important as what is. And the
Shakers made “It’s a gift to be simple” not only into a song, but also
into a way of life.
