In the days before email, old truckers like myself used lick’em &
stick’em postage stamps. And believe it those gooey little things even
pre-date some of us!

Drivers are just like everybody else when it comes to collecting things
with one exception. They lack the space in their sleepers to collect
things like anvils and antique washing machines. But one item just begs
truckers to be collected: trucking belt buckles.

Over the past five years or so a new element has made its way into the
world of truck shows with surprising results. Once a rarity at truck
shows, motorcycles have become secondary stars used as eye-candy to
attract attention to other elements of the show. Some are even drafted
into service as raffle prizes and or demonstration vehicles.

Sometimes our good luck is not all that apparent when we are enjoying
it. For Daryl Rodman of Belton, Texas his big stroke of luck was in the
form of the training he received from his uncle Dave Rodman, who
introduced Daryl to trucking just over a quarter century ago. It was
rough at first, but the training Rodman received was definitely a
stroke of good luck.

Sometimes when we take a fresh look at old situations a creative idea
comes along. The trucking industry, which is about 100 years old now,
has long been the domain of men, not just behind the wheel but
throughout every level of the industry.
