Safety-Kleen Creates Driver Challenge To Promote And Enhance Safe Driving

May 1, 2012

The Safety-Kleen Driver Challenge is a competition created to promote and enhance safe driving. The challenge invites company drivers to compete in various safety events that test safe driving skills and knowledge. Drivers who have the safest driving record within the company have been selected to enter the competition and compete in the challenge.

At regional locations across the country, competitors are required to face off in courses designed to test driving skills. These drivers are required to negotiate obstacles, utilizing various driving maneuvers and displaying skills that are recognized as safe driving practices and simulate day-to-day scenarios. Four separate divisions (including Over The Road) are held according to the style and type of vehicle the competitors drive during their daily routines at Safety-Kleen. The competitors’ safety and regulation knowledge is also tested through a Department of Transportation safety quiz administered at each event. This comprehensive challenge ultimately discovers who is the safest and best driver at Safety-Kleen.

Apart from competing, drivers are given the chance to get to know their competitors and partake in Safety-Kleen- sponsored events at each race track that hosted the driver challenges.

Safety-Kleen lives by its principles for safety and efficiency, which have made it and sustained it as the commander in its industry. However, as much as the company’s cautious philosophy is responsible for the reliability of its transportation; the drivers themselves are decisive in the fluidity of operations across the board. Safety-Kleen called on its drivers to perform, and they deliver.

Safety-Kleen is expanding the Driver Challenge to include a Pre-Trip Inspection component to the event, along with a forklift competition for material handlers.  The first regional event was held on March 24th, 2012 in Fontana, California. Future events will take place on May 19th, 2012 in Charlotte, North Carolina, June 16, 2012 in Brooklyn, Michigan, and September 15th, 2012 in Chicago, Illinois.  Each region will crown the top two to move onto the finals in Orlando, Florida on October 27, 2012.
For this the company had instituted the challenge also as a way of giving back to its safest men and women on the road.
